Today, a client—who works at a research institution—reached out in need of a metering pump equipped with a flow display, intended for the transfer of very small quantities of asphalt.
The specific operational parameters are as follows:
Asphalt flow rate: 80–120 L/h
Pressure: Approximately 0.5–0.7 bar
Asphalt temperature: 90–150°C
Asphalt viscosity (at operating temperature): 300–600 mm²/s. !!! A key challenge here is that the asphalt cools to ambient temperature after each experiment and must be reheated before the next run; consequently, a standard flow meter is not a suitable solution.
The allowable margin of error for flow measurement is approximately +/-3% of the actual flow rate. The client requires the flow rate (in L/h) to be monitored via a display, with a precision of at least two decimal places.
